The Joys Of packing #3: Hand-Made Welcome Cards
When I first arrived in Vanuatu in June 2008 for volunteer service, I spent my first night at the Baha’i Centre where a lovely Canadian family lived. I was overwhelmed and terrified that large spiders were going to eat me alive - and if not ME, then definately the friendly little geckos that were running around the walls. It was dark, and humid and i had no idea where I was - BUT even though I was completely out of my element and feeling quite alone - a little boy named Erin had decided to make me a card that day to welcome me. And he left it waiting for me on my bed. He may not have thought much of it, but I kept that card. And it was up in my hut the entire 6 months that I lived at the school. I found that card today - and it read:
From: Erin
Roses are red. Vilts are dllue. Shugar is sweet & YOU are too…
Have a Good Stay.
